If you've reached the point where completing a job tier or fighting doesn't seem like it's doing it for you, you might want to do what you can to tweak your game to get the most out of it. Here are some tips for making your Boss stronger.
1) GROW YOUR MAFIA TO 501
You've probably seen it and it's true. The single most important thing you can do to make it likelier to win fights is to get your mafia up to 501. As long as you have less than 501, you'll be an easier target on the fight lists and you won't have good chances of winning against a bigger mafia.
2) ARM YOURSELF
Once you reach level 99 you can buy Bonus Weapons that have 20 attack and 20 defense value. If you are using any weapons with less than 20/20 when attacking or defending, this is the easiest way to improve your combat score. If you're not sure what you're using or what your combat score is, try the links posted up on the home page. If you are between lvl 100 and 179 this is prime tiime to go out and fight fight fight. You stand a chance of getting high a/d loot that will add to your arsenal. Once you hit lvl 180 the fun slows down, because the fight lists are all thrown together from 180 up and the sky is the limit. So grab that fight loot while you can!
3) TWEAK YOUR CASH FLOW
Cash is good for three things: hitlisting, getting out of the hospital, and equipment upkeep. As you get more and more good loot, you should be relying less and less on weapons, armor and vehicles that require upkeep. Check on what you're using and if you're paying for upkeep on equipment that never gets used, it's time to sell it. As long as you have as many Mafia Mike's as you can and some properties, you should have plenty more cash coming in than going out. Speaking of which, if your properties get shut down, you still get 30 % of the income so as long as that is enough to cover equipment upkeep, you can actually leave them that way to foil robbers.
4) PROMOTE TO YOUR TOP MAFIA
Here's one you can do while waiting for your stamina to regenerate or for your next energy pack. This is the easiest way to get an advantage on jobs and fights. Assign your best mafia members to positions within your mafia. Each position has a unique bonus which can be greater depending on who gets promoted to that position.
Mastermind – Choose a member with many jobs completed to promote to Mastermind to get more experience points from doing jobs. Your Mastermind gains a small chance of gaining 50% more experience when performing jobs.
Wheelman – Choose a member with the Fearless character type and a high level to promote to Wheelman to get a reduced energy cost for jobs. Your Wheelman gains a small chance to perform jobs for no energy.
Button Man – Choose a member with the Maniac character type and a high level to promote to Button Man to get an Attack bonus. Your Button Man gains a small chance to always win fights they initiate.
Bodyguard – Choose a member with many fights won to promote to Bodyguard to get a Defense bonus. Your Bodyguard gains a small chance to always win fights when they are attacked.
Safecracker – Choose a member with many successful heists to promote to Safecracker to get more money from fighting and robbing. Your Safecracker gains a small chance to gain double the money when fighting or robbing.
Bagman – Choose a member with the Mogul character type and a high level to promote to Bagman to get more money from jobs. Your Bagman gains a small chance to gain double the money when performing jobs.
5) DON'T WASTE ENERGY PACKS
If you are close to leveling up, wait a bit and let your energy/stamina to grow and use them on other jobs or help other mafia members out to gain experience till you level up. Then use your filled energy from the level up followed by the energy pack. This will maximize the effectiveness of your energy pack.
6) BANK YOUR MONEY
Make sure to put any extra unused cash into the bank. This way people do not take money from you when they fight you.
7) 2X RULE
Your attack and defense points in Mafia Wars should be very strong and should scale according to your level. As a rule of thumb many Mafia Wars players like to have their attack and defense points at twice that of the level they are currently playing. Thus if your on Mafia Wars level two, your attack points should be at four and your defense points should be just as high.
